UFC Fight Night 100 Quick Picks

UFC Fight Night 100 is the second of two events from the promotion on Saturday, live from Brazil and you can see our quick picks for all the fights below.

Main Card:

Ryan Bader vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Bader won by unanimous decision the last time he fought Lil Nog six years ago, and his striking has improved since then to complement his wrestling advantage, while Nogueira has just got older, more injury-prone and in fact has only been in the Octagon six times since then, compared to 14 for Bader.

I think Bader will be competitive on the feet here, but it’ll still be his wrestling that will really set him apart. It’s possible he could finish Nogueira with punches, but a decision is perhaps the more likely outcome.

Ryan Bader
to win by decision.

Thomas Almeida vs. Albert Moraes

Almeida’s unbeaten career run came to a brutal end against Cody Garbrandt last time out, but while there’s a question mark about how he will cope with that both physically and mentally, there’s still a ton of upside to the Brazilian and at just 25 years-old I think he’ll bounce back.

Moraes is a dangerous striker himself though, so this is by no means an easy fight, but I think Almeida will prove to have the superior offense and find a TKO finish inside the distance.

Thomas Almeida to win by TKO in Rd2.

Cortney Casey vs. Claudia Gadelha

Gadelha may now have two losses on her record to the champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, but she remains a terrific fighter who will pose a great deal of problems for anyone else that has to face her on their route to a title shot.

Casey has shown real potential, but this is a really tough match-up at this stage in her career and I think she’ll struggle to make an impact as Gadelha showcases her well-rounded game and particularly strong grappling en-route to a decision victory.

Claudia Gadelha:

Krzysztof Jotko vs. Thales Leites

Interesting fight as Jotko is capable on the feet and will be difficult to take down, which may limit Leites options, but I think his striking and all-round game has developed enough that he’ll just be able to scrape to a win on the scorecards here.

Thales Leites to win by decision.

Warlley Alves vs. Kamaru Usman

Alves can be fun to watch as he’s an offensively minded fighter who’s a threat on the feet and on the mat, but Usman should match up well with him and will adopt a more grinding-based strategy that will serve him well in the later rounds as his opponent tires and should lead to decision win.

Kamaru Usman to win by decision.
