Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 103 event in Arizona the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the preliminary encounter between Augusto Mendes and Frankie Saenz, a closely fought battle as they both traded blows for the full 15 minutes, with Seanz emerging victorious by way of a narrow split decision verdict.
Yair Rodriguez earned one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses for a completely dominant victory over UFC hall-of-famer BJ Penn.
This was one way traffic from start to finish as Rodriguez bamboozled Penn with a wide variety of kicks and spinning attacks in the first round, hurting him on multiple occasions, before sealing the deal in the second round with a front kick – right hand combo that dropped the former champion, followed by persistent ground and pound to earn the TKO stoppage.
Aleksei Oleinik also scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after recording the UFC’s first ever Ezekiel Choke finish mid-way through the first round of his fight with Viktor Pesta.
