Following yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 163 event in Moscow the recipients of the $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main event battle between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar.
In the opening two rounds it was ZaBeast’s creative, fluid and sharp striking that was winning the fight as he pumped out the double jab and used kicks to good effect, while pushing a good pace.
However, he started to tire in the third, which he would later claim was due to a viral infection, and meanwhile Kattar started to step up his own intensity and began finding a home for his punches more frequently, but ultimately it wouldn’t be enough to win the fight, with Magomedsharipov securing a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).
Meanwhile, Magomed Ankalaev secured a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after a stunning front kick knockout during his fight with Dalcha Lungiambula, which came just 29 seconds into the final frame.
Also picking up a performance bonus was David Zawada, who produced a big upset victory over lightweight champion Khabib’s cousin Abubakar Nurmagomedov, locking the debuting fighter up in a fight-ending triangle choke submission in the first round of their preliminary card fight.
