Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 193 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
On this occasion the UFC opted to dish out four ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards, and they all went to preliminary card fighters.
Alejandro Perez’s bonus award was certainly well-earned as he locked up an unusual submission against Johnny Eduardo, trapping an arm between his legs while in scarf-hold position to produce an armlock finish in the second round.
Meanwhile, Douglas Silva de Andrade secured a spectacular KO finish when he landed a punch flush to Gaetano Pirrello’s face just as he was throwing a kick, which sent him flying into the air for a moment before thudding flat on to his back, then dropped down with another big strike before the ref could get in to end the fight.
Jamie Mullarkey was another bonus winner after he came off second best in the striking battle against Devonte Smith in the opening round, but then landed a leg kick in the second that seemed to trouble his opponent, enabling him to then swarm him with punches and knees until he wilted, leading to a TKO stoppage.
Finally, Casey O’Neill secured a bonus after she got the better of Antonina Shevchenko, with her superior skills on the mat leading to a second round TKO finish via ground-and-pound.
