UFC Fight Night 212 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 212 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a main card middleweight scrap between Dusko Todorovic and Jordan Wright.

In the opening round it was Wright who seized the early momentum with strikes both on the feet and on the mat, but in the second round Todorovic came out with all guns blazing and his tiring opponent simply couldn’t keep up as he ate big punches before slumping to the mat under the threat of a guillotine choke, enabling Todorovic to then tee off with elbows and punches until the TKO stoppage.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Martinez looked very impressive during his second round TKO win over Cub Swanson in the co-main event of the evening and earned himself a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award in the process.

The first round was fairly competitive, but Martinez’s thudding kicks to the body and legs were already proving to be a big weapon, and then in the second round it got to the point where Swanson repeatedly sunk to the mat after absorbing leg kicks, before appearing to have had enough by the third time this happened, with the referee stepping in wave off the fight seconds later as Martinez landed follow-up punches.

Also earning a performance bonus was Tatsuro Taira, who was able to control CJ Vergara on the mat for extended periods, which led to a late second round finish as he was able to switch from hunting for a rear-naked choke to going for an armbar that would force the tapout.
