UFC Fight Night 29: Medical Suspensions

For the most part UFC Fight Night 29 this past Wednesday night appears to have passed by without many fighters getting badly hurt, with most of the medical suspensions handed out afterwards being for just 21 or 30 days.

However, there’s no such luck for Mike Pierce who found himself the victim of the most controversial moment of the card when Rousimar Palhares finished him with a heel hook submission and then didn’t let go for several seconds afterwards.

As we now know, Palhares has been released from the UFC for his actions, and the fact that Pierce is now facing a potential six months on the sidelines for injuries to his left ankle and knee due to the submission gives a clear indication of why it’s so important that moves like this are released as soon as a fighter taps out.

The only other notable suspension for the event was for Erick Silva who’s shock KO loss against Dong Hyun Kim has resulted in him having to sit out for the next 60 days.
