Following last night’s UFC fight Night 46 event in Dublin, Ireland, the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 fighter bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the preliminary scrap between Cathal Pendred and Mike King which saw King put a first round beating on his opponent before Pendrad dug deep and produced an unexpected comeback in the second to finish by submisison.
Conor McGregor earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus for backing his words up with action against Diego Brandao, putting the former TUF champion away by TKO due to strikes in the first round as he’d predicted pre-fight.
McGregor’s training partner and co-main event star Gunnar Nelson also scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after a put his foot down hard on the accelerator in the second round of his fight with Zak Cummings, transitioning slickly from striking to a takedown, taking his back and choking him out.
Perhaps the Dublin fans should have received some sort of award too though as Dana White later claimed that the 9,500 fans in attendance at the O2 arena were the loudest he’d ever heard.
