Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 70 in Florida the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
As some had predicted prior to the event, the co-main event pairing of talented strikers, Larenz Larkin and Santiago Ponzinibbio scooped up ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors, with Larkin proving to be the better man on the night, finishing his opponent with punches in the second round.
The first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was handed to main event winner Yoel Romero who appeared to be coping well with Lyoto Machida on the feet, but when ‘The Dragon’ attempted to clinch with him in the third round the former Olympic wrestling silver medalist suddenly went into overdrive, forcing him to the mat and then KO’ing him with a vicious series of elbows to the head.
The second ‘Performance Of The Night’ award went to Thiago Santos, and it was richly deserved as he took just 29 seconds to stop former hockey enforcer Steve Bosse with a brutal, highlight-reel head kick knockout.
