UFC Fight Night 74 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 74 event in Saskatoon, Canada the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main card scrap between Patrick Cote and Josh Burkman which was competitive throughout, but really came to life early in the third round when Burkman started throwing caution to the wind with big punches only to then be floored by one in return from Cote, with further strikes on the mat leading to the TKO victory.

Felipe Antares scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award courtesy of a nicely crafted first round armbar against Yves Yabouin.

Finally, Frankie Perez also earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after he TKO’d veteran fighter Sam Stout just 54 seconds into the opening round of their preliminary fight.  In a move that caught everyone by surprise the 26 year-old then got on the mic and announced his retirement from the sport despite just coming off the biggest win of his career!

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
