UFC Fight Night 78 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 78 event in Mexico the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the competitive main event battle between Neil Magny and Kelvin Gastelum. For the first few rounds it was Magny who controlled the action with his striking from range and strong grappling giving the former TUF winner a hard time, but Gastelum came back strongly in the fourth round, dropping his opponent twice with powerful hooks, and then continued that momentum into the fifth. That ended up making it a tricky fight for the judges to score, but Magny did enough to earn a split decision win.

Meanwhile, Andre Fili claimed the first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he found success with a big head kick followed up by punches to seal a knockout victory against Gabriel Benitez, 3.13mins into the first round in their fight in the preliminary section of the card.

TUF Latin America 2 cast member Polo Reyes also scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus courtesy of a big left hook that sent his opponent Cesar Arzamendia thudding to the canvas, with hammerfist sealing his quick KO stoppage at 3.42mins of the first round.
