Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 81 event in Boston the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the fascinating main event battle for supremacy between Dominick Cruz and TJ Dillashaw. Cruz looked very much his old self from the start despite one having fought once in almost five years and his unique footwork and head movement made him a hard target for Dillashaw to hit, particularly in the early rounds, while his own offense and occasional takedown helped rack up points en-route to a split decision victory.
Meanwhile, veteran UFC campaigner Ed Herman scooped up a ‘Performance Of The night’ bonus after he crumpled Tim Boetsch to the mat with a big knee to the head which led to a TKO stoppage in the second round of their light-heavyweight fight on the preliminary card.
Also earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was Luke Sanders who was able to escape an early arm triangle choke attempt from Maximo Blanco during a high paced start to their fight and was then able to lock in a rear-naked choke submission which delivered a first round finish for the fighter known as ‘Cool Hand Luke’ in his Octagon debut.
