UFC Fight Night 82 Fight Card

Originally billed as UFC 196, but last week downgraded to Fight Night status after the main event was scrapped, we’ve got the full UFC Fight Night 82 fight card for you below.

Leading the card will be a welterweight fight between No.2 contender and former champion Johny Hendricks and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson who’s No.8 in the division and riding a five fight winning streak.

In the co-main event there’s heavyweight action with Roy Nelson desperately needing a win after losing his last three in a row against Jared Rosholt who’s grinded his way to a trio of wins in the past 12 months.

Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante has lost three of his past four fights and the 35 year-old faces a challenging match-up here against Ovince St.Preux who’s also looking to bounce back from a loss.

Joseph Benavidez remains rooted to the No.1 contender spot in the flyweight division after his latest four fight winning run and he next faces Zach Makovsky, the former Bellator and RFA champion who’s gone 3-2 in the UFC so far.

Rounding off the extended six-fight main card are a further two bouts as veteran Mike Pyle takes on Sean Spencer, while Misha Cirkunov goes up against the debuting Alex Nicholson.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
