UFC Fight Night 86 Bonus Awards

Derrick Lewis

Following yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 86 event in Croatia the recipients of the $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

On this occasion there was no ‘Fight Of The Night’ bonus, with the UFC opting instead to dish out four ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards.

Co-Main event winner Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis was among them thanks to his first round demolitiion of Gabriel Gonzaga, finding his way back to his feet after being taken down early in the fight and then nailing his opponent with a series of strikes against the cage that produced the KO finish.

Mairbek Taisumov earned himself a performance bonus and extended his UFC winning streak to four fights, (all coming by way of strikes) with a big uppercut in the opening round that TKO’d Damir Hadžović as the Russian fighter calmly walked off.

Alejandro Perez had to fight off a series of leg lock attempts against Ian Entwisle in the first round of their fight, but he started to rain down ground and pound, which eventually forced his opponent to verbally submit and also banked him an additional performance bonus.

Finally, heavyweight fighter Jared Cannonier also scooped up a bonus with a first round knockout win against Cyril Asker, flooring him with a left hook and then finishing up with ground and pound.
