Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 90 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a hard-hitting main card clash between Alan Jouban and Belal Muhammed that went the distance. Jouban dropped Muhammed no less than three times in the opening 10 minutes, but each time his opponent kept rising back up again, and in the third he started to turn the screw, tagging Jouban repeatedly. In the end though, Jouban’s earlier success was enough to ensure him a unanimous decision victory.
As you might expected, new lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was top of the list on the ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards after he buckled Rafael dos Anjos’ legs early in the fight and then continued to lay on lay on a barrage of strikes until the referee was forced to put RDA out of misery and stop the fight. So, Alvarez wins by TKO, ends Dos Anjos’ dominant run in the divison and becomes the new champion.
Finally, the other ‘Performance Of The Night’ was handed to Pedro Munhoz who was able to produce a quick guillotine choke win over Russell Doane in the preliminary portion of the fight card.
