Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 96 event in Portland, Oregon the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
There was no ‘Fight Of The Night’ award on this occasion, so instead, four ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus were dished out instead.
Earning one of them was Nate Marquardt, who knocked out Tamdan McRory on the preliminary card after connecting with a punch in the second round and then followed up with a head kick.
That was Marquardt’s second KO victory in his past three fights, though sandwiched inbetween that he suffered a knockout loss himself.
Newcomer Brandon Moreno also earned a bonus after he impressed with a guillotine submission against Louis Smolka mid-way through the first round on the main card.
That snapped a four fight winning streak for Smolka and is the first time he’s ever been submitted.
Also in on the bonus action was Curtis Blaydes who was a in full control of his bout with Cody East, using wrestling and ground and pound, including some effective elbows, to claim a second round TKO victory.
Finally, Louis Henrique da Silva also earned a post-fight bonus thanks to an armbar submission in the scond round of his fight with Joachim Christensen, which headlined the preliminary portion of last night’s show.
