Following last night’s UFC On ESPn 3 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
On this occasion four ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses were awarded, and it’s no surprise that main event winner Francis Ngannou was one of them after he showing off his punching power by stopping Junior dos Santos by TKO with strikes on the feet and then the mat after just 71 seconds.
Joseph Benavidez also claimed a performance bonus for his TKO victory over Jussier Formiga in the co-main event.
Benavidez suffered an unfortunate cut to his left eye due to a stray thumbnail in the opening round, but that didn’t slow him down and late in the second round he landed a big head kick that hurt Formiga and then blasted him with a flurry of left and right hands until he could take no more and dropped to the mat.
Alonzo Menifield also scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he capitalized on a slip following a missed spinning kick attempt from Paul Craig midway through the first round, managing to hammer him with several right hands as he rolled to his back to knock him out cold.
FInally, in the prelims Eryk Anders racked up a quick TKO finish and performance bonus to go with it against Vinicius Moreira, unleashing a combination that included two big lefts that put the Brazilian down, followed up with ground and pound blows to finish him at the 78 second mark.
