Following last night’s UFC On ESPN+ 30 event on Fight Island the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a highly skilled striking battle between Rafael Fiziev and Marc Diakiese.
Fiziev largely controlled the action with his hard-hitting style, including some truly thunderous body kicks. Diakiese’s own knockout power and flashy techniques meant he was always a threat though, and he came more into the fight late in the final round, but ultimately it was Fiziev who emerged with a well-earned unanimous decision victory.
Of course the UFC’s newly crowned flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo claimed one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses after he completely demolished Joseph Benavidez in the opening round of their fight.
Figueiredo floored Benavidez on no less than three occasions in that first five minute spell and threatened to finish him with a rear-naked choke each time, before finally rendering his opponent unconscious with it at the third attempt to win the fight and seize the vacant title.
Also earning a performance bonus was Ariane Lipski, who had her most notable performance in the Octagon to date as she countered a heel hook attempt from Luna Carolina by going for a kneebar that left her opponent yelling out in pain as she tapped out just 88 seconds into the fight.
