Following last night’s UFC On ESPN+ 33 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a main card battle between Ricardo Lamas and late replacement Bill Algeo.
Despite this also being his UFC debut, Algeo gave a very good account of himself as he met Lamas blow-for-blow in the early rounds, and appeared to rock him with a big knee to the head in the second round that led to the veteran bidding a hasty retreat.
However, Lamas rallied strongly in the third round, using his grappling and ground and pound to dominate that five-minute spell and emerge with a unanimous decision victory (29-27 x3).
Meanwhile, a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus went to Sean Brady for his preliminary card win against Christian Aguilera, which saw him choke his opponent unconscious with a mounted guillotine.
Also earning a performance bonus was Mallory Martin, who was clearly coming off second-best in her fight with Hannah Cifers, including having been dropped in the opening round, but she was able to produce an impressive comeback in the second round, getting Cifers down and taking her back, before sinking in the rear-naked choke finish.
