Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 7 event in Washington D.C. the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
The ‘Fight Of The Night’ on this occasion came in the main card opener between Rob Font and Ricky Simon, which was a a high-octane striking battle in which both men had to weather the storm at times eating big shots, but ultimately it was Font who did enough to emerge with a unanimous decision victory.
There was no doubt that Bryce Mitchell was going to be one of the two ‘Performance Of The Night’ winners after he went into the history book for pulling off only the second ‘Twister’ submission in UFC history against Matt Sayles late in the opening round of their prelim battle.
Afterwards Mitchell claimed he’d learned the submission by watching Eddie Bravo do it on YouTube.
Also earning a performance bonus was Makhmud Muradov, who landed a devastating one punch knockout against Trevor Smith in the opening fight of the night for a finish just 51 seconds before the final bell.
