Following last night’s UFC On FOX 16 event in Chicago the recipients of the evenings $50,000 fighter bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors on this occasion was the cracking main card striking contest between Edson Barboza and Paul Felder, with both men engaging in a hard hitting, technical striking battle for three rounds punctuated by spinning attacks on both sides, with the Brazilian eventually earning the decision victory to end Felder’s unbeaten record.
The first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus went to 135lb champion TJ Dillashaw who proved that he has former kingpin Renan Barao’s number by comprehensively outstriking him again before finishing by TKO in the fourth round. Along the way he showing off the kind of speed, technique, power and accuracy that suggests that he has the skills to remain rooted to the top of the bantamweight division for quite some time to come.
The second ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was dished out to final preliminary bout fighter Tom Lawlor who showed off his heavy hands as he sent Gian Villante clattering to the mat in ungainly fashion with a huge right hook to claim a TKO victory in his first fight back in the Octagon after a two year absence.
