Following last night’s UFC On FOX 19 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the opening fight of the evening on the preliminary card between Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Omari Akhmedov who delivered a striking slug-fest for the best part of three rounds, with Dos Santos then dropping his opponent with a punch and following up with ground and pound for the TKO finish.
The first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was dished out to Glover Teixeira who didn’t take long to finish former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans in the main event. The Brazilian aggressively stalked ‘Suga’ in the opening stages of the fight and then dropped him to his knees with a left hook to the chin, followed up with a powerful right that knocked Evans out cold less than two minutes in to the fight.
The other ‘Performance Of The Night’ ward was given to Michael Chiesa who endured a tough first round against Beneil Dariush, but then turned the screw early in the second, getting his own grappling game going which resulted in being able to take his opponent’s back and sink in a rear-naked choke finish.
