UFC On FOX 5: Brendan Schaub Vs Lavar Johnson Scrapped Due To Injury

A heavyweight encounter between Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson at next weekend’s ‘UFC On FOX 5’ event has been scrapped after Johnson picked up a groin injury.

The fight had been scheduled to headline the preliminary card of the event which will air on FX prior to the main card on FOX.

Initially the UFC were hoping to find a late replacement to take Johnson’s place, but Schaub’s manager has since confirmed that his client is now off the card.

“Frustrated would be an understatement..back to the gym,” was Schaub’s response to news of the cancelation.

Johnson later showed he’s a class act by writing to commiserate with Schaub on the situation.

“I was looking forward to it. Hope we can get it done in the future. Once again, I’m sorry big dawg,” Johnson told Schaub.

“Part of the game my man. How long u out??” Schaub replied.

“Not sure yet. Hopefully a couple of months,” Johnson stated.

Overall it’s an unfortunate turn of events as this looked set to be an entertaining fight that would have provided a great lead-in to the main card on FOX.
