Three-Man Commentary Team Set For UFC 208

UFC 208 will be the first pay-per-view event since long-time play-by-play commentator Mike Goldberg was released from the promotion, and it’s now emerged that there will be three people in the booth on Saturday night.

According to MMAfighting’s Ariel Helwani, Jon Anik will be taking Goldberg’s spot on play-by-play, while Joe Rogan will be joined by light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier for color-commentary.

This won’t be anything too far out of the ordinary as Cormier has served as a color commentator alongside Anik before, and also took to the broadcast booth with Goldberg and Rogan during his rival Jon Jones main event fight with Ovince St. Preux at UFC 197 as well.

This isn’t the so-called ‘dream team’ that UFC president Dana White has previously referenced as being in the works though. He’s already indicated that it could be the summer before the pieces fall into place to make that happen, and at this stage he remains tight-lipped about who he might have in mind, or how many spots in the booth are up for grabs.

This weekend Anik, Rogan and Cormier will be Octagon-side for a UFC 208 event headlined by the promotion’s first ever woman’s featherweight title fight as Holly Holm goes up against Germaine De Randamie, while UFC legend Anderson Silva also returns to fight Derek Brunson in the co-main event.
