Urijah Faber Will Fight For Interim 135lb Title Dana White Confirms

Yesterday Urijah Faber called for an interim bantamweight title fight after getting word that current champion Dominick Cruz had been forced to pull out of their fight due to a torn ACL, and Dana White has quickly granted him his wish.

Last night White confirmed that Faber will remain on the UFC 148 fight card on July 7th where he’ll fight for the interim belt against an as yet unnannounced opponent.

Renan Barao (28-1-1) is believed to be the man most likely to fill that position and has been given Faber’s seal of approval, but we’ll have to wait and see whether the UFC are able to put that fight together.

Meanwhile, despite his injury White has also announced that Cruz will still remain opposite Faber as a team coach on the current season of TUF: Live which is approaching it’s 10th episode on FX this Friday night.
