UFC 230 has undergone a major change with Valentina Shevchenko now set to fight Sijara Eubanks for the vacant flyweight title in the main event of the evening on November 3rd.
Former bantamweight title contender Shevchenko had originally been expected to face former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the title, but she has been withdrawn from the event for reasons that have not yet been disclosed.
Shevchenko is heading into the fight off the back of a win over Priscila Cachoeira in her debut in the UFC’s new 125lb division, following a split decision loss to bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes back in September of last year.
In total Shevchenko now holds a 4-2 record in the UFC, 15-3 for her career overall and has been considered by many to be the champion-in-waiting at flyweight.
In Eubanks, Shevchenko faces a fighter who made her way to the UFC via TUF Season 26, where she fought her way to the final before being forced to pull out due to suffering from kidney failure.
Eubanks has since made her UFC debut with a decision win against Lauren Murphy and is now thrown straight into a PPV main event title shot, which has already raised some eyebrows.
Shevchenko Vs Eubanks takes the lead on a UFC 230 card that will also feature a high-profile fight between Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier, while Luke Rockhold fights Chris Weidman elsewhere on the main card.
