Watch Junior Dos Santos Thoughts On His New UFC 146 Opponent Frank Mir

UFC heavyweight champion has given his initial reaction to the news that former title holder Frank Mir will now fight him for the belt at UFC 146 next month after Alistair Overeem withdraw falling a failed drugs test.

“I think it’s a good thing for me because if I had to have someone to replace Overeem, it’s Frank Mir. But I have to change a lot in my training now because Frank Mir is south paw and he likes jiu-jitsu, he’s a black belt. So I have to change a little bit in my camp. But that’s it. I’m a fighter and I will be looking for the knockout. It doesn’t matter who my opponent is.”

Prior to the announcement Dos Santos had made it clear that he wouldn’t have seen it as fair if Overeem had been given the opportunity to fight him despite testing positve for high level’s of testosterone following a pre-fight press conference a few weeks ago.

He said he would still fight him if that had been what was decided though, but he’ll no doubt have been pleased to hear that he’s now facing Mir (who passed a drugs test at the same time as Overeem) instead.
