Watch New Interview With UFC On Fuel TV 3 Headliner Dustin Poirier

The UFC’s featherweight division is in need of new challengers for dominant champion Jose Aldo and one of them is undoubtedly Dustin Poirier who headlines May 15th’s UFC On Fuel TV 3 event opposite ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan-Sung Jung.

The 23 year-old Canadian fighter is currently on a four-fight winning streak since moving over to the UFC from the WEC last year and is considered one of a new crop of talented and well-rounded young fighters emerging through the promotion’s ranks at this moment in time.

Poirier himself admits his swift rise to prominence in the UFC is hard to take in.

“A year ago I was hoping to one day be in the Ultimate Fighting Championships, you know just fighting under the name, and now I’m headlining a show, man – it’s just crazy,” Poirier says with a smile.

“This journey is just like the fruit of my labor. Everything I’ve dreamed about and done the right things towards making it happen, and it actually is happening. I’m living my dreams and I’m chasing my ultimate goal to be a world champion.”

Speaking about his upcoming fight with ‘The Korean Zombie’, Poirier envisages it being fast and furious.

“Somebody’s going to get put to sleep. It’s going to be a crazy fight, crazy pace. I want to set a record for punches thrown, let’s do it,” he says enthusiastically.

He thinks that Jung’s fighting style will help ensure it’s a good fight, but will also open up opportunities that he’ll be able to exploit to ensure he gets his hand raised at the end of the bout.

“We know he’s got some heavy hands. He’s going to bring the best out in me. I’ll be able to stay more technical in my standing, and not get into the brawl that he kind of invites with open arms. We know he’s got a solid chin, we know he’s got a heart, we know he’s a warrior, but so am I, and that’s what makes great fights.”
