Watch Teddy Atlas Getting Emotional Talking About Anderson Silva

Revered boxing coach and analyst Teddy Atlas got emotional on the latest episode of his ‘The Fight’ podcast as he talked about the decline of Anderson Silva, who he believes to be one of the greats of combat sports.

By his own admission Atlas isn’t one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to MMA, but he knows greatness when he sees it, and after going back to watch tape of Silva’s decorated career he came away convinced that he was someone “special” and “a pioneer.”

As such, Atlas found himself getting choked up as he spoke about Silva’s final fight in the UFC recently, which saw him being TKO’d by Uriah Hall, believing that the 45-year-old former long-time middleweight champion was no longer the fighter he once was and should have retired earlier.

Atlas also expressed regret that the younger generation of MMA fans may never realize just how great Silva was because of his continued desire to compete even after he was past his best.
