Naturally boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya’s main focus a couple of weeks ago was the major bout between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, but earlier that evening he tuned in to watch the ‘UFC On FOX 5’ event and he came away with some opinions on one of the UFC’s up-and-coming stars Rory MacDonald.
“He looks like he has talent, he looks like he has that little ‘it’ factor,” Del La Hoya says of MacDonald in an interview with FightHubTV.
That being said, De La Hoya feels that MacDonald could have stopped his opponent BJ Penn if he had just used one of boxing’s most fundamental weapons.
“I would love to see him use that jab to the body. If I was in there with that opponent he was fighting against, that jab to the body would have just paralyzed him.”
He also hinted that MacDonald hadn’t yet fully embraced his killer instinct.
“You have to keep working on it. You have to feel that killer instinct. Feel it and go after it.”
