An important featherweight fight between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar has been announced as the co-main event for UFC On ESPN 6 in Boston on October 18th.
Magomedsharipov is currently on the brightest stars in the 145lb division, having so far produced a perfect 5-0 record since joining the UFC in 2017.
Along the way he’s earned submission victories over the likes of Mike Santiago, Sheymon Moraes and Brandon Davis, while also winning on the scorecards against Jeremy Stephens and Kyle Bochniak.
In total Magomedsharipov’s current winning streak extends to 13 fights and he’s ranked No.5 in the division as he rapidly closes in on title contention.
As for Kattar, he’s coming off back-to-back wins against Chris Fishgold and Ricardo Lamas, both coming by of strikes in the first round, while he’s won four of his five fights to date in the UFC, with his other victories coming against Andre Fili and Shane Burgos and his only defeat being against Renato Moicano.
That leaves Kattar placed No.11 in the division, but a win over Magomedsharipov would see his stock rise significantly and ensure a solid placing in the featherweight top 10.
Magomedosharipov vs. Kattar joins a UFC On ESPN 6 card that’s expected to be headlined by Chris Weidman’s light-heavyweight debut against Dominick Reyes.
