Zabit Magomedsharipov Vs Yair Rodriguez Targeted For UFC 227

A clash between two of the featherweight division’s most exciting strikers, Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez has been targeted for UFC 227 in Los Angeles on August 4th.

Magomedsharipov has just signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC and it’s easy to see why they are eager to retain his services as the Russian fighter has looked impressive during his current three-fight winning streak since joining the promotion last year.

Along the way, ‘ZaBeast’ has earned submission wins over Mike Santiago and Sheymon Moraes, plus a decision victory against Kyle Bochniak, extending his overall career record to 15-1 and taking him to No.13 in the UFC’s featherweight rankings.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez has also marked himself out as one of the division’s most promising rising stars, though his hype train did take a hit last time out when he came up against Frankie Edgar and lost by TKO in the second round.

However, before that ‘Pantera’ was unbeaten in his time in the UFC, racking up six wins in a row against the likes of BJ Penn, Alex Caceres and Andre Fili to name but a few.

Magomedsharipov Vs Rodriguez is set to take place on a UFC 227 card that will be headlined by a bantamweight title rematch between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt, with other big fights believed to be in the pipeline.
