Bellator 194 took place and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening, Matt Mitrione just managed to edge past Roy Nelson in the heavyweight grand-prix courtesy of a majority decision verdict.
Mitrione was able to get the better of Nelson with his striking in the opening two rounds, though in both he was also taken down by his rival.
Nelson hadn’t really been able to do anything particularly meaningful on the mat though, but that all changed in the third round when he got Mitrione down earlier and then worked to get the mounted cruficix and start dropping down a barrage of ground and pound strikes.
Mitrione was struggling at this point, but almost got back to his feet before being taken down and managed to make it until the end of the round, where his earlier striking success helped him get the nod from two of the judges (29-28 x2, 28-28).
Meanwhile, in the co-main event Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire made short work of Derek Compos, flooring him with a left hook early, then waiting until he stood back up again to fire off uppercuts that would send him down again and end the fight by TKO.
Earlier, boxer Heather Hardy improved her MMA record to 2-1 with a unanimous decision victory over Ana Julaton.
