Alexa Grasso Reveals She’s Suffered A Broken Leg

Former UFC flyweight champion Alexa Grasso has revealed that she’s suffered a broken leg during training.

Broke my leg training But I’m fine.. everything heals .. time by time ,” Grasso told her 1.4 million followers on Instagram (Translated). “Send me lots of love so that that bone hits right please .”

Needless to say that’s going to lead to a long layoff for the the 31-year-old Mexican star, with there being no clear idea at this stage of when she might be able to return to action.

Grasso had headed into 2024 full of optimism, having gone undefeated in her previous six fights, including a massive upset win over Valentina Shevchenko in March of last year to win the 125lb title, followed by a split draw in their rematch later in the year to retain the belt.

That paved the way for a trilogy showdown this year, and it looked like a dream come true for Grasso when it was announced that the fight would serve as the co-main event at a unique, one-off show at The Sphere in Las Vegas to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.

The UFC delivered a visual spectacle that night befitting of the occasion, but while she’ll undoubtedly have been proud to have been a big part of the show, Grasso’s memories will be tarnished by the fact that she was convincingly beaten by her rival Shevchenko via unanimous decision on the night.

Despite her previous success against Shevchenko the dominant nature of that title loss appeared to shut the door on another fight between them for now, so Grasso had turned her attention to a potential fight with No.2 contender Manon Fiorot next, but those plans will now be on ice while she recovers from her broken leg.
