An important women’s flyweight fight between Alexa Grasso and Viviane Araujo has been rebooked for UFC Fight Night 212 on August 13th after the match-up previously fell through back in January.
Grasso was billed as one to watch when she first joined the UFC, but she experienced mixed results up until a switch up to flyweight in 2020, which led to her current three-fight winning streak.
Along the way she earned unanimous decision victories over Ji Yeon Kim and Maycee Barber, while last time out in March she submitted Joanne Wood in the first round to rise up to No.5 on the flyweight rankings.
Meanwhile, Araujo has compiled a 5-2 run in the UFC so far. She lost to Katlyn Chookagian on the scorecards back in May of last year, but has since rebounded with a unanimous decision win against Andrea Lee, which adds to her previous wins over notable fighters like Alexis Davis, Montana De La Rosa and Roxanne Modafferi and leaves her ranked No.7 in the division.
Grasso vs. Araujo joins a UFC Fight Night 212 event that doesn’t yet have a confirmed location, but will also feature the likes of Gerald Meerschaert vs. Bruno Silva and Sara McMann vs. Aspen Ladd.
