Alexander Gustafsson To Fight Nikita Krylov At UFC Fight Night 211

Alexander Gustafsson will return to the light-heavyweight division for his next fight against Nikita Krylov at UFC Fight Night 211 in London, England on July 23rd.

Gustafsson had originally been scheduled to fight Ben Rothwell in a heavyweight fight at UFC 210 later this month, but his veteran opponent was then unexpectedly released from the promotion and has since signed for BKFC.

The 35-year-old Gustafasson’s last Octagon outing had been his heavyweight debut against former champion Fabricio Werdum, and it didn’t go well, losing out by a first round armbar.

That was Gustafsson’s third loss in a row, having also been KO’d by Jon Jones in their title rematch back in 2018 and then submitted by Anthony Smith a year later.

Gustafsson has since flirted with retirement at times, but it seems there’s still fight left in him yet and that takes him to his next fight against the 30-year-old Krylov.

Like Gustafsson, Krylov has also been down on his luck lately, having lost three of his last four fights, with a solitary win on the scorecards over Johnny Walker having been surrounded by decision losses to Glover Teixeira and Magomed Ankalaev, while most recently he was submitted by Paul Craig in the first round.

Gustafsson vs. Krylov joins a UFC Fight Night 211 card that will be headlined by Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes, while Darren Till vs. Jack Hermansson has also been made official for the UFC’s second visit to London in the space of just a few months.
