Alistair Overeem TKO’d Sergey Pavlovich in the first round at UFC Fight Night 141, opting to change from his normal strategy by taking the Russian newcomer down and finish him with big ground and pound on the mat.

Round One

Cautious start from both men. Pavlovich fires off a hard left hook that connects. He looks the bigger man here. He throws again as Overeem back up against the cage.

Back to the center they go and then Overeem presses Pavlovich up against the cage. Pavlovich reverses the position, but Overeem stuffs it and goes back to the clinch against the cage.

They continue to jockey for position against the cage then as they separate Pavlovich lands a clipping hook.

Leg kick for Overeem. Right hand from Overeem then into the clinch and lands a nice trip takedown. Overeem standing over him and then settles into his guard.

Clubbing right hook from Overeem on top hurts Pavlovich. ‘The Reem’ recognizes it and turns up the heat, landing a series of thunderous shots and Pavlovich turns his face away to the cage while covering up.

That’s it, the fight is over as the referee steps in – Overeem gets back to winning ways via TKO at 4.21mins of the first round.
