Aljamain Sterling vs. Movsar Evloev Booked For UFC 307

A featherweight fight between Aljamain Sterling and Movsar Evloev has been announced for UFC 307 in Salt Lake City on October 5th.

Former bantamweight champion Sterling’s title reign ended last year with a loss to Sean O’Malley after having successfully defended the belt three times against Petr Yan, TJ Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo.

After being TKO’d by O’Malley the 34-year-old decided to move up to featherweight and found success in his divisional debut with a unanimous decision victory over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 in April.

Now he’ll take on undefeated fighter in the 30-year-old Evloev, who has compiled an impressive 8-fight winning streak at 145lbs over the past five years, extending his overall career record to 18-0 in the process.

Along the way Evloev has beaten the likes of Hakeem Dawodu, Dan Ige, Diego Lopes and most recently Arnold Allen to take the No.5 spot on the 145lb ladder, three places above the No.8 ranked Sterling.

Sterling vs. Evloev is only the 2nd fight to be confirmed for UFC 307 in Utah, with a women’s bantamweight title clash between current champion Raquel Pennington and former titleholder Julianna Pena also set to have a prominent spot on the pay-per-view card in a few months time.
