Amanda Ribas vs. Viviane Araujo In The Works For UFC 285

A fight between flyweights Amanda Ribas and Viviane Araujo in reportedly in the works for UFC 285 on March 4th in Las Vegas.

Ribas was originally supposed to fight Tracy Cortez at UFC On ESPN 42 earlier this month, but had to sit out after her opponent was pulled from the event for medical reasons not long after the weigh-ins.

Despite having got her UFC career off to a strong start with four wins in a row, the 29-year-old Ribas is now only just keeping her spot in the flyweight rankings at No.15 after losing two of her last three fights.

That downward turn started with a TKO loss against Marina Rodriguez last year, and though she then went on to beat Virna Jandiroba by decision, she’s since came out on the wrong end of a split-decision verdict against Katlyn Chookagian.

As for the 36-year-old Araujo, she has also lost two of her last three fights, but nonetheless she still holds the No.7 spot in the rankings.

Like her opponent, Araujo also suffered a decision loss against Chookagian, but in May of this year she secured a win on the scorecards against Andrea Lee, before Alexa Grasso defeated her by unanimous decision.

Ribas vs Araujo joins a UFC 285 card that is still very much in it’s formative stages and doesn’t yet have a main or co-main event attached to it.
