Andrea Lee put on a strong performance tonight on the feet and even at times on the mat to earn a unanimous decision victory over Montana De La Rosa.
Round One:
Straight punch for De La Rosa and a leg kick from Lee. They both exchange punches and kicks here early in the fight.
Solid jab for Lee now. Body kick for De La Rosa and a leg kick in response from Lee. Good punch from Lee staggers De La Rosa a little.
Very nice takedown from De La Rosa now. Lee does well to use the cage to get back to her feet. Knees exchanges in the clinch now and De La Rosa presses Lee to the cage.
Knee from Lee as she moves away. Body kick from Lee, but De La Rosa takes her down from that. However, again Lee is able to stand back up.
One-two for Lee as she moves out of the clinch. However, De La Rosa quickly gets back to the clinch again. It’s not working out well for her this time though as Lee lands a series of knees to the body.
Now a knee upstairs as De La Rosa tries to go in for a takedown. Now it’s Lee looking for a takedown and she lands it powerfully as the round ends.
Round Two:
One-two for De La Rosa. Now a right hand. Leg kick for Lee. De La Rosa in on a takedown now. Lee stays up though and gets back to striking range.
Jab for Lee. Now punches to the body. Knee upstairs as they briefly clinch. Blood from De La Rosa’s nose smeared on her shirt and Lee’s left arm now.
Right hook for Lee. De La Rosa fires into a takedown attempt, but though it was quick, Lee defended it well with a sprawl.
Jab for Lee. Now a one-two lands clean. She tries for a head kick, but it’s caught and that allows De La Rosa to get a takedown.
However, Lee gets to her knee and lands an elbow to the head then stands back up.
De La Rosa working another takedown against the cage. Lee marching forward and lands the jab then attempts a takedown, but she’s unable to land it. She goes for a hip-toss but that doesn’t work either and De La Rosa pushes her back into the cage as the round ends.
Round Three:
Jab for Lee. Another jab and a body punch. Now a leg kick. An exchange at close range and Lee finishes it with a body kick.
Lee marching her opponent down again. Body punch for De La Rosa. Now De La Rosa lands a trip takedown. Lee back to her feet, but De La Rosa brings her straight back down again.
Lee gives up her back as she stands back up, but does well to get back to the clinch and then break free.
Counter jab for Lee. De La Rosa clinches again. Knee strike to the leg from Lee. Clipping right hand for Lee. Now a head kick attempt that’s blocked. She tries it again but it only partially lands and then she loses her balance.
De La Rosa follows her down and tries for a guillotine choke submission. She’s on her back now trying to get this working, but it doesn’t pay off.
High guard being utilized by De La Rosa from her back. Lee would like to get this fight back to her feet. She postures up though and lands some ground and pound.
Now Lee is choosing to stay in the danger zone and lands a big blow to the head. De La Rosa throws up a triangle attempt and Lee is in trouble for a moment, but gets free.
Still Lee opts to stay on the ground. De La Rosa almost flat now, face down and Lee trying for a submission. That won’t happen but she keeps busy until the final bell.
Decision:
Strong performance from Lee there to earn herself a unanimous decision victory (30-27 x2, 29-28).
