Andrei Arlovski Vs Stefan Struve Set For UFC 222

A heavyweight fight between Andrei Arlovski and Stefan Struve has been announced for UFC 222 on March 3rd in Las Vegas.

Last month the 38-year-old Arlovski finally broke free from a five-fight losing streak when he defeated Junior Albini by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 120 in Virginia.

Prior to that he’d experienced a rough couple of years that had seen him pick up losses against Stipe Miocic, Alistair Overeem, Josh Barnett, Francis Ngannou and Marcin Tybura, and so he even with a win under his belt the veteran still only holds down the No.12 spot in the heavyweight division heading in to his next bout.

Two places above him in the rankings is Struve, who is nine years his junior and is coming off a loss to Alexander Volkov, who TKO’d him in the third round at UFC Fight Night 115 in September.

‘The Skyscraper’ had registered back-to-back wins prior to that, though looking over a longer timeframe he’s gone 3-4 in the Octagon over the past five years.

Arlovski Vs Struve slots into a UFC 222 fight card that is also expected to feature the return of Cat Zingano against Ketlen Viera and Hector Lombard fighting C.B. Dolloway, while more high profile fights, including the events headliner, should be announced in the coming weeks.
