Angela Hill And Karl Roberson Pulled From UFC 256 Due To Covid-19

It’s only the start of the week, but UFC 256 is already taking a hit from Covid-19 after both Angela Hill and Karl Roberson tested positive for the virus.

As a result, Hill will not be able to fight Tecia Torres on Saturday night, while Roberson has also had to withdraw from his bout against Dalcha Lungiambula.

“Tested positive for Covid and won’t be fighting next week,” Hill said on Twitter. “Tried to stay as safe as possible during fightcamp but with mma training there’s virtually no social distancing. Was looking forward to running it back, maybe in the near future. #CovidFuckingUpEveryonesSeason #UFC256.”

Meanwhile, Lungiambula was the first to reveal that his opponent had been forced out of their bout due to coronavirus.

“To my family, friends, and team champion. Thank you so much for the love and support.

“My opponent @karlbabyk has been diagnosed with COVID-19, therefore @UFC has decided to move our fight to the 19th DECEMBER 2020. Wishing @K_babyk_roberson a speedy recovery.”

So far the main card for UFC 256, which includes a flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno and a co-main event featuring Tony Ferguson vs. Charles Oliveira, remains intact, but it’s still early in the week and recent cards have been weakened significantly even on the day of the fight, so it will be a nailbitting few days for the promotion in the lead up to their final PPV of the year.
