Anthony Pettis Vs Michael Chiesa Now Goes Down At UFC 226

A lightweight encounter between Anthony Pettis and Michael Chiesa has now been rebooked for UFC 226 on July 7th in Las Vegas.

The fight was originally scheduled for UFC 223 last month, but Chiesa was forced to withdraw after suffering facial lacerations when Conor McGregor threw a steel dolly through the window of the fighter bus he was travelling in.

Chiesa is coming off a rear-naked choke submission loss to Kevin Lee back in June of last year, which ended a three-fight winning streak that saw him defeat Mitch Clarke, Jim Miller and Beneil Dariush.

As for Pettis, he also suffered a loss last time out, suffering a rib injury that resulted in a TKO against Dustin Poirier back in November of 2017.

Pettis had picked up a win over Jim Miller prior to that, but the former 155lb champion has only won two of his last seven fights and is still battling to rediscover the form that first made him a star.

Pettis Vs Chiesa joins a UFC 226 line-up during the promotion’s annual International Fight Week celebrations that will be headlined by a heavyweight title superfight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier and more title action in the shape of featherweight champion Max Holloways vs. Brian Ortega.
