Anthony Smith vs. Jamahal Hill To Headline UFC Fight Night 222

A light-heavyweight fight between Anthony Smith and Jamahal Hill will headline UFC Fight Night 222 on March 11th at a destination still to be confirmed.

Smith’s last fight back in July against Magomed Ankalaev ended badly after he suffered a broken leg on his way to a second round TKO loss.

That brought an end to a three-fight winning streak that had seen him beat Devin Clark, Jimmy Crute and Ryan Spann, but to make matters worse, in addition to having to undergo surgery on his leg he also ended up suffering from a blood clot that further hampered his recovery.

Despite those woes, the 34-year-old Smith remains the No.5 ranked contender at 205lbs, one spot above his next opponent, the 31-year-old Hill, who is currently in the midst of a three-fight unbeaten run.

And not only that, but Hill has been finishing his opponents in style, with a 48 second round KO of Jimmy Crute late last year being followed by another first round KO against Johnny Walker, before going on to TKO Thiago Santos in the fourth round in August.

Smith vs. Hill will lead a UFC Fight Night 222 card that only has one other bout attached to it so far, with Tyson Nam fighting Bruno Gustavo da Silva.
