A light-heavyweight rematch between Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann will headline UFC On ESPN 50 in Singapore on August 26th.
The 34-year-old Smith heads into the fight off of back-to-back losses in the past year, starting with a TKO defeat against Magomed Ankalaev back in July of 2022, during which he suffered a broken leg.
Smith also suffered some health issues around that time, but was able to return to action in May of this year, where he delivered a somewhat lackluster performance in a unanimous decision loss to Johnny Walker.
Now Smith will try to get back on track against the 31-year-old Spann, who he beat by submission in the 1st round back in September of 2021.
After that Spann went on to claim back-to-back victories in 2022 with a 1st round submission of Ion Cutelaba and 1st round KO of Dominick Reyes, though he was then submitted by Nikita Krylov in the opening round of their fight back in March of this year.
Smith vs. Spann joins a UFC On ESPN 50 event that will be headlined by former featherweight champion Max Holloway vs. The Korean Zombie, with Taila Santos vs. Erin Blanchfield also having just been announced for the show in Singapore.
