Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Vs Sam Alvey Set For UFC Fight Night 137

Brazilian UFC veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will go up against Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 137 in Sao Paulo on September 23rd the promotion have announced.

The 42-year-old Nogueira hasn’t been see in the Octagon since a November 2016 TKO loss to Ryan Bader. That marked his third loss in his last four apperance inside the Octagon, having also been KO’d by Anthony Johnson and come out on the wrong end of a unanimous decision against Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, though he did also claim a TKO win over Patrick Cummins during that period.

Nogueira had then been slated to fight Jarrod Cannonier back in December of last year, but was withdrawn after being flagged for failing a drug test, but he’s since been given a reduced suspension after it emerged that supplements he’d used were contaminated, paving the way for his UFC return.

Now he’ll return to face the 32-year-old Alvey, who is coming off back-to-back wins over Marcin Prachnio and Gian Villante since moving up to light-heavyweight back in February.

Nogueira Vs Alvey joins a UFC Fight Night 137 fight card that is still under construction, but is expected to also feature a lightweight bout between Francisco Trinaldo and Evan Dunham.
