Apparently Cub Swanson Vs Artem Lobov Is Still Headlining UFC Fight Night 108

Sorry Nashville fight fans, it seems that Cub Swanson Vs Artem Lobov is still your headliner for UFC Fight Night 108 after all.

Rumors stemming from Brazilian site Combate yesterday suggested that a more worthy main event between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal was being installed instead, but it seems that wire must have been crossed at some stage as it’s not going to be taking the top spot.

That’s the word according to Swanson, who expressed surprise at the situation on Twitter yesterday.

“I signed a contract to fight Artem at #UFCNashville in a 5×5 Main Event,” Swanson wrote. “I have reached out to the UFC about this and they have not answered.”

Meanwhile, Lobov shrugged off the news during an appearance on The MMA Hour show with Ariel Helwani.

“I’ve seen that, but I’m not too sure,” Lobov said. “I haven’t heard anything. That makes no difference to me. All it means to me is that my fight is going to be on a little bit earlier in the night.”

However, a little later Swanson was able to confirm they will still be at the top of the bill after all.

“I just got confirmation that I am still the Main Event for #UFCNashville So Artem is still getting his 5 round ass whooping (or he quits),” Swanson told his Twitter followers.

No.4 ranked featherweight Swanson certainly deserves to be headlining a card after coming out on top against Doo Ho Choi in a ‘Fight Of The Year’ candidate in December of 2016.

Lobov is a different story, however. Currently unranked and holding a 13-12-1 (+1nc) record, it remains difficult to understand why he’s getting such a high-profile spot on the card other than the fact that he’s a teammmate of Conor McGregor’s.
