Arman Tsarukyan will fight Joaquim Silva at UFC On ESPN 47 in Las Vegas on June 17th.
Tsarukyan had recently been lined up to fight Renato Moicano at UFC On ESPN 45 in April, but his opponent withdrew and the promotion were unable to find a short-notice replacement to keep him on that line-up.
The 26-year-old Tsarukyan is currently the No.8 ranked lightweight after winning six of his last seven fights. He did suffer a unanimous decision loss to Mateusz Gamrot in June of last year, but has since got back to winning ways with a decision victory against Damir Ismagulov in December to add to his other notable victories over the likes of Joel Alvarez, Matt Frevola, Davi Ramos and Christos Giagos.
Now he’ll be taking on the 34-year-old Silva, who not so long ago was coming off two KO losses in a row against Nasrat Haqparast and Ricky Glenn, but has since secured a TKO finish against Jesse Ronson to get back on track.
This is perhaps not the most obvious choice for Tsarukyan’s next fight to be going up against an unranked opponent, but nonetheless it joins a UFC On ESPN 47 card that is expected to be headlined by Marvin Vettori vs. Jared Cannonier.
