Aspen Ladd Has Been Released From UFC After Repeated Weight Cut Failures

Aspen Ladd’s repeated weight cut failures have finally caught up with her as it’s now emerged that she’s been released from her UFC contract.

The 27-year-old had been a notable contender in the bantamweight division, but had failed to make weight on three separate occasions during her time in the UFC, resulting in two fights having to be cancelled, including her most recent match-up against Sara McMann earlier this month.

Ladd had also previously missed weight while competing in the Invicta FC promotion too, all the way back in 2016, but has been unable to correct the problem in the years since and it’s now cost her dearly.

“We tried to work with her – she’s a great kid,” Dana White said after last night’s Contender Series Finale. “It’s never fun when you have somebody who’s actually talented – she’s a talented fighter. But part of the job is making weight.

“She’s not made weight so many times, it had to happen. Not something you want to do, but something that had to be done.”

So, Ladd bows out of the UFC with a 4-3 record, with all three of her losses coming in her last four Octagon appearances against Germaine De Randamie, Norma Dumont and Raquel Pennington.
