Bellator 263 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
After many years of being brought up through the Bellator ranks, A.J. McKee finally had a chance to prove his skills at the highest level in a fight for the featherweight title against the champion Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire in the 145lb grand-prix final, and he passed the test with flying colors.
McKee hurt Freire in the opening round with a huge head kick and follow-up punches, with an uppercut dropping him to the mat. He then seized on a standing guillotine choke as Pitbull was trying to get back up and cranked on it until Freire appeared to go out and the referee waved off the fight only 1.57minutes into the fight.
McKee is truly the definition of a homegrown star, having been with the promotion since his professional debut, and now the 26-year-old proudly claims the title while taking his flawless career record to 18-0 and last but certainly not least, secures a whopping $1 million in prize money for winning the featherweight grand-prix!
