Bellator 297: Nemkov vs. Romero Results

Bellator 297 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event, light-heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov made a relatively easy defense of his title against an out-of-sorts Yoel Romero.

Nemkov took the fight to the 46-year-old Romero from the start and continually put him on the back foot with his active striking. It was the same story throughout the first four rounds, with Romero struggling to get anything going offensively as Nemkov continued to apply pressure and land his own strikes.

Only in the final round did Romero finally start really pressing forward with purpose and did go on to land a big takedown and get some control time on top, but it was too little-too-late and Nemkov emerged with a convincing unanimous decision victory (49-46 x3).

Meanwhile, in the co-main event Sergio Pettis comfortably defended his bantamweight title against featherweight titleholder Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire as he managed to continually outstrike his opponent on the feet throughout the fight with his faster, higher-volume offense.

Earlier Corey Anderson narrowly edged out a split-decision victory over Phil Davis in a fight that saw both men test each other’s ground game without either managing to gain the upper-hand, while Anderson was slightly more effective on the feet to help him eek out a win.
